Default Trump Cuts Off CIA Syrian Arms Program

tRUMP ends the program of the CIA providing arms to "moderate" Syrian rebels.

http://nypost.com/2017/07/19/trump-c...rebels-report/

Cue up ConservaTards and HillaryHawks crying "tRUMP is doing Poootangs Biddin"

Now if we can shrink our footprint in other places....

This comes way too late. But I welcome it -- Syria would not be destroyed and ISIS would not exist unless the unholy alliance between the gulf states and the west poured money and arms into the region in the hope of deposing Assad.

I expect this will mark the end of ISIS; at least as a force which could ever establish its own state. They'll be relegated to a collection of disparate factions before long.

I'm quite happy to normalise relations with Russia as well. Never understood why bad relations with Russia is thought to be a good thing among so many people.

Perhaps someone can help me out with that...

I have often commented on the disastrous track record of US meddling in the Middle East and Africa.

Both Republican and Democrat administrations are guilty of it.

Call me cynical, but bad relations with Russia, and reigniting a "cold war" is good for some businesses....

And the boomer crowd that is in Sodom On The Potomac must be having nostalgia for those cold war years.....

I think you need to look at all the times that "arming the rebels" has actually worked -- and I believe that would be approximately zero times.

It's worked every time for the military industrial complex.

Right on schedule.

It did work to expel the Russians from Afghanistan. But that gave birth to the Taliban.

I think we're aware that that is the general pattern, the creation of powerful extremist groups seems to be accepted as collateral damage. Russians and Assad out of Syria, Syria run by insane fanatics for the next few decades. Great job.

Sure -- I didn't put it into a time frame.

It's like the enemy of my enemy is my friend -- until he starts shooting at me with the guns I gave him.

Does this opinion include the results of France supplying arms to the American rebels?

They did a lot more than supply arms -- so you might want to think about that one.

Because France did "a lot more than supply arms" are you intending to indicate arming the American rebels actually worked?

I'm saying that they did more than just supply arms.

Look it up.

Here's a hint -- a four letter word that starts with "n" and ends with "y."

Okay, I believe I see your point now.
Thanks for responding in a timely fashion.

IMO, the enemy of my friend is my friend especially when I can arm him and get him to keep shooting with my weapons. - weapons manufactures and arms dealers.
