Default Looking for moderators

Hello everybody!

Writer's Beat is growing rapidly and I need more staff members.

What is the job of a staff member? Content, moderation, and brainstorming.

What is the benefit? Being a part of a great writing community and being recognized for so. More benefits will be in the future that are tied with the growth of the community.

Now, I'm not asking for your time to be dedicated as a job and be boring. But if you are applying, please be as active as possible and contribute to the community at a higher level than a normal member would. As a staff member you have the option to be a global moderator or a moderator, depending on your intentions. I will discuss that with you privately.

UPDATE:

Mod application
Do you have a passion for writing?
Yes. I write mostly lyrics, but I also write a decent ammount of Poetry. I've been into writing on and off since I was very young and have recently found a steady outlet in writing lyrics for songs for my band.

Are you a grammer nazi?
I can be if I have to be. I know what's right. Whether I nitpick about it is a different story. In the case of lyrics and poetry, I never really saw the point of perfect grammer as the line and stanza seperations work much better than any comma or period ever could.

Any moderation experience?
I was a music moderator at LWS for a few months. At that point in time, I had a lot of stuff I was dealing with as far as my own music went and I didn't feel like I could do the job in the way that I wanted so I resigned. I have since been able to manage and balance my studio, record label, and band much better and I have free time to moderate a forum now.

What forum(s) are you applying for?
The lyrics forum.

Why are you applying for the above?
Almost all of my writing is focused in lyrics. It's the one thing that I know very well and I feel that I could effectively moderate a forum that delt with lyrics.

An Application

Do you have a passion for writing?
Yes, very much so. I write to express whatever feelings I am having in words and metaphors, and it helps me understand them better. I read constantly, and write whenever I find an opportunity.

Are you a grammer nazi?
Not always. It doesn't bother me when people don't capitalize their "I"s on AIM, but it does in an intelligent forum, or email. Mixing your and you're irritates me all the time though

Any moderation experience?
Yes, though not terribly recently. I have worked on many game modifications, and often ended up moderating the forum boards associated with them. The last would be about 6 months ago.

What forum(s) are you applying for?
The Lyrics and/or Poetry forum(s).

Why are you applying for the above?
I have a passion for writing in meter and rhyme. I love to read and write poetry, as it can often capture an idea better than any prose. Applying this to music can make the work even more meaningful, and doing this is an art unto itself. This fascinates me, which is why I am applying for the Lyrics forum as well.

What exactly would the moderator be doing in the "Getting Published" section?

I'm extremely interested and I've read what the moderators do (but not in a while; I guess I need to catch up), but I don't know what the duties would be.

EDIT: I'm willing to consider any of the fiction sections for becoming a moderator, since they are my most favorite sections.

Well, it would bassically be creating content for that section, besides the obvious moderation of posts. It's the moderators job to make that part seem attractive and to provide a good area for members to visit.

Are there any [moderation] spots for the fiction sections? In all honesty, I'm not sure if I want to do it in the "Getting Published" section. But I'm pretty much willing for the other sections of WritersBeat.

If not, I'd be willing to do it in the future if any new spots are needed or old ones need to be replaced.

Fiction not at the momment, but I'll update you.

Really want to get the inactive sections, active. That's the priority right now.

I totally understand. I'm thinking I still might want to be a mod in the "Getting Published" section. I need to do some research on some topics of "Getting Published" things, but I think it'd work for me.

I also have never had any experience moderating, but I think in an inactive-at-the-moment forum would be good with/for me. There's also more potential and I get to start basically from scratch. That's a plus.

The hardest part is creating content that is worthwhile to the community.

The easiest is banning people lol.

Yeah. I think if I became a mod, the hardest part for me would be creating the content.

I don't think I'd find banning people the best part, but you wrote "the easiest".

Just one click?!? Wow . . . What if you do it by mistake? You can just go back and fix it?

What do you normally do as a moderator?

Well most likely on this forum you won't have to do too much, considering the people here are mature and not idiots like a lot of forums are. But otherwise just making sure people don't start yellin... er... typing at each other. You get the idea.

Eh, it's really not just one click. But it's as easy as a click. Anyway, the easiest thing about being a mod is moderating posts and users (for that forum) the hardest is generating attractive content.

^ - that's what you normally do as a moderator.

I fear writing attractive content. Just kidding. I fear researching for good content and coming up with nothing to use. That just plain-out sucks.

As for moderating posts and users: Don't mind whatsoever. Easy and fun.
