When I think of a book, I still envision a parchment book. What beats curling up on your couch and banging out a chapter?

curling up on the couch and banging anything is pretty good. Dammit, guess I need to put a R rating on this post.

I read only printed books and electronic mail (and letters).
I have hundreds of ebooks, but they are not 'valuable' to me, even if their content is useful.

I buy paper when professors choke me with textbooks. It clutters my shelves. And I already am short on space.

There have also been studies that show people don't remember what they've read as well when they read something electronically and anecdotally I've heard people say they have a harder time reading novels on an e-reader.

I've finally gotten rid of all my physical books, except for a few that are rare or autographed. I do like physical books, but since I'll be moving around a fair bit in the next few years, nothing beats ebooks for convenience.
It's nice to have 200 novels to choose from on a long plane ride!

I am currently moving to a new apartment and I packed all of my books into boxes. Right now, I can tell you that the day that paper books become obsolete can't come a minute too soon for me. Lifting and carrying all that crap has come this close to wrecking my back.

Last time I moved I had about 20 boxes just of books.... I can completely sympathize with the back pain!
I've only got one or two boxes now, which is good, because there's a chance I'll be moving abroad sometime next year, and that would be expensive shipping...

When my mom sold her house 17 years ago, 80% of her book collection went to a used book store, or (tragically) to the recycling. Much of it had been water-damaged in a flood 8 years before that, so there was no choice in some cases. I found some of them in the same used book store a decade ago, and bought them; I think I gave one of them to my mom for her birthday.
