Writing helps me make sense of the world and creates closed environments where I can experiment with thoughts and ideas. I may be trying to come to terms with a feeling of fear or joy, a philosophy, or just trying to heal.

I write mainly to express myself and relieve stress. Sometimes I get so flustered with life I can't even speak and the only way to feel better is to write. And also when I write I lose myself entirely and become someone else. It's like a trance. Without writing surely I would go insane.

I dont know why i write. It used to be as an escape. But i feel like thats changed. As i have grown older, i guess i realized that its impossible to escape the World and if you try and run from something, it usually follows. I accept that the world is a chaotic place with people who accept the twisted things that they do, or that come at them with open arms, open hearts and open minds. I remember all my stories from my youth all had kids who were trying to just lead a normal life until the darkness would show up. Not subtly like it often does in real life. But in an extravagant battle of skeletons or demons, due to lack of knowledge and experience.

I wish i could tell you. It would probably help me figure out who i truly am.

Just like it I guess. always told stories as a kid. morality tales at bedtime. horror stories on the porch after dinner.

It's a thrill when someone reads your work and gives an opinion.

And I always thought that certain story tellers were slick the way the threw things in, morals, social commentary, plot twists ...

Also, I may love it. A lot. The words are my friends (sometimes), and I like playing with them.
Aah, yes, "playing" with words.....and setting them to "dancin' and then juggling them....kinda; like a carnival, isn't it?

I don't know if Jesus was much of a storyteller. but there were a couple of cool stories in the bible.

Well, my characters are always there for me when I feel like no one else understands me, they do. They understand me better than I do. In fact, during a very stressful morning this morning, Robin gave me the mother of all pep talks and I was fine from then on, not bad for my mind.

I've wanted to write ever since I won a competition at school when I was 7 years old, as I got older (I haven't grown up) I was told that being an Author wasn't a realistic ambition and I should set my sights lower and settled for third best (my eyesight is too poor to be a pilot)

I have had flurries of activity ever since leaving school, never reaching the end of any one project.

Recently my wife suggested I try writing about what's gone on in my life, since then it has poured out of me.

Just need people to read it now

I write because I am inspired or I write because I can.
Or I write because that is the best literary thing I know .
Talking has it place of course.

I might care about what you write -- I really don't care why you do it.

Ah.
Why should you care at all because if you don't care about why one writes then caring about what is written is not caring.

If what’s on the page doesn’t move me in some way or entertain me, or if I just think it isn't any good -- then why should I care about what motivates the writer?

I write because I draw.
I've spent a while drawing characters and places, but it was never enough. I would spend entire sleepless nights imagining backgrounds for them. What's the point in creating an image of someone, without developing an entire life for them?
I can't draw without writing, and vice versa, they go hand in hand, and I'm more creative when I do both.

I write because I can get lost in my mind, which is generally a pretty exciting place to be. Also the idea of working from home is SUPER!

I'll admit that I write for pretty selfish reasons; hell, who doesn't do that? I crave praise and some form of recognition. Also, I write because I just have to. There's something inside of me that gets off on the sheer act of writing.
I can't think of any other way to describe it.

I write because My Favorite Texan complained about the cost of new photography equipment to replace that which was ruined when our house flooded, and I MUST get these images out of my head somehow.

I write to bring the characters in my head to life, and to give them a setting and conflicts. I'm pretty sure if they lived exclusively in my head, and not in a story, my mental health would suffer.

I WRITE because it fountains out of my soul, untethered and filled with lush passion that consumeth my innermost being.
The sagacities my mind need to be preserved with ink and paper or I shall surely perish from the face of this earth of mankind upon which I hath been formed to be a natural writer.

Because writing is truly the only way I can say precisely what I feel, or what I think. Without it, I'd have to keep everything inside, and that isn't healthy if you ask me.

I write because it feels inherent. I am a writer.

That is all.
