Default Get Real

Writers who have achieved any kind of success never needed random advice from strangers on the internet.

If you're here, and you have any kind of talent -- stop wasting your time -- unless you're a hobbyist and you're just playing at the game of pretending to be a writer.

Stop.

I would like to end all writing sites. They are the worst kind of echo chambers.

The blind leading the blind.

Otherwise, good luck with your writing, as they say.

By the way, in case you're wondering, I'm probably a much better writer than you are.

With an inferiority complex, otherwise you wouldn't have said probably.

Prove it or languish in the smack talker lounge of "probably".

("...get real, well yes I suppose that's all very well for someone who wants to be "their reality" there, just "real" each time then, but what if I don't want to "get real" now, when and where that "being real" sounds so much like perfection does, ah yes all that predictable perfection again, being a boring thing in itself with no flexibility whatsoever, naah your reality is overrated humans, where imperfection offers one so much more unpredictability doesn't it..." replied the goblin also wondering what most folks read these days, oh and whether he ever saw them reading it for all their opinions upon the matter, then adding "...you see, those readers are no further away from you than at the other end of your posts, and you could pretend if you like that those who read your posts aren't readers at all, yet more folks read short interactive content today than most anything else, so where are your posts now, me I find my authors through their posts if at all where authors without posts are like painters without sketches, so sketch for me while you still have my attention...", and with that the goblin agreed that most writers were their own worst enemies for their arrogance they showed towards their own posts, then the goblin just smiled saying "...btw to get real "real" just look up from your screen and then just admit to yourself that you're bored out of your banana, so instead get "productive" now, "imaginative" too, and just flow form your pen in posts a plenty, for ever that journey to self awaits you now...", where the voice in the background went "...this has been a public service announcement on behalf of "reality escaping goblins" everywhere...")

I was just playing devil's advocate to see if there was any passion left here -- or any defense of the raison d’Ítre.

Nick, baby -- It's JoeMatt -- one of the few people here who have posted complete, edited, real short stories -- with fully realized characters -- with beginnings and ends -- the whole ball of wax. And plenty of poems too. I can post links for you. Yeah -- I can put my money where my mouth is -- at least within the limited scope of forumland.

Flea, old boy. Appreciate what you do.

But I'm NEVER bored. With me, it's a constant struggle to find time to pursue my various creative outlets.

Like my mom used to say, only boring people get bored...
