Icon12 Lost in WritersBeat

Hello computer. I can't take the pressure anymore. I'm being threatened, by email, to publish or perish. I'm not sure if you are kidding or not.

F-X, You are member of WritersBeat.com for a 91 days now but haven't posted anything yet. Be noted that we are deleting zero-posters from time to time. To avoid this please start posting soon. Click on this message bar if you wish to make an introduction thread now...
I don't really want to make an introduction thread, but there you are, reminding me, scolding me, forcing me to write. The horror. I have this obsession, to sign up on any and all message boards, that for whatever reason, I have read something, for some reason. (Usually because the computer running things suggest this, or in some cases, forces the issue).

This computer, the one running this forum, is pushy. Not only in mail, but when I log in, it keeps saying stuff, stuff that makes me think it really wants me to say something. Most computers that run message boards are busy trying to keep me from saying anything, even attempting to keep me from showing up. Maybe the computer here is friendly, maybe it isn't really a threat, but if so, why not say "please"? "Please start an introduction thread, we would LOVE to hear from you!". That might be better.

And I know, oh I just know, that writing anything, even a single word, opens you up to the real chance that a person will show up, and people, they are far more intrusive than computers. They want to chat, to commune, to reach out and touch you. To know stuff. They can be far worse than a computer. They want something from you.

Ah well, hope this satisfies the inhuman mind that is considering my imminent cyberdeath, its virtual finger over the big red death delete button, waiting, like a mechanical spider, to just do its thing, and no doubt, having satisfied the requirement, I will be thanked with yet another email. But can it read what I said? Will it check the spelling? Point out my errors about it's or its? Criticize the off hand remark, the blatant thought, the wild leap of imagination?

Or would that be up to you?

OH good lard, now I have been labeled a "Newbie". It is worse than I imagined. I think we all know what comes next.

Addendum: Wow. You can always edit later?

I'm not sure, really I am not, if I have ever created an introduction thread before. Introductions. On a writing forum, without a shred of evidence to back this up, one might imagine that what you write would be the introduction, in which case, I am already headed to the ninth level of writers hell, for the off handed, unedited, grammatically incorrect, self loathing crap that I plopped on the bar, and remarked that I almost stepped in it. If I was bettin man, I would place money on this, that whatever is said, or not said, silence is golden, and everything else brass.

OK, I was kidding around. Words are golden, words rock, words are thoughts made concrete, writ in stone, an ageless treasure for those that can find the Rosetta Stone.

OK now I am just facinated by what the computer will add to my "name" over there, just to the left of this, because it seems to be changing for each post. And there are all these strange new things, points, awards, my profile even says "donate to F-X", none of which means a thing to me. Me. Me me me me, the all about me thread, hey check this out, look what I can do!

It is ego feeding, a dangerous pastime, even if you are really something, it will end in tears.

At least the threat is gone. Now I see quotes.

"A writer is a person for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people. " - Thomas Mann

I love it.

Okay, stop. I have a headache. If you keep posting like this your title will read "banned".

First of all, welcome to Writer's Beat, nice to have you here. Our own little automated messages that get sent out to members are only out of love, pure love.

Second, why don't you post some work for us to see?

Now that you have made an introduction, please take a tour of the website and get to know us a little bit more. If you have any question, don't hesitate to ask a staff member.

Welcome again.

That's the best introduction I've ever read.

I can feel the stream of consciousness
flowing just under the surface
Karst formation of the hidden mind
bubbling unhindered
ancient neurons firing
chemical signals
electromagnetic fields
unknown radiations
spiral tracks of smashed ideas
lost dreams and stagnant imagination
questing searching seeking
the soft sandstone of time
natural wonder
wondering when
the spring will form
pressurized purified
bursting forth
silty waters
path of least resistance
poetic
beauty
flows

Where is the tour bus? Will there be snacks? Tea? What is a Meebo and how do I get one? Where is the FAQ section? The rules? Especially the ones about language and activity levels. Is there a set of unwritten rules? Secret forums?

I am having too much fun. After the last post, this was added under my user name -

Where is the [SHIFT] key?

Somewhere there is a computer doing stuff each time I add something here. It creates an almost overwhelming desire to just do one more, to see what happens.

And yes, I know how annoying multiple postings can be, but since it IS my introduction, and we have nothing to hide....

hmmm... is that true?

From the rules -

* Please do not post simply for the sake of posting, just to drive your point's count up. We realize that at times very short posts and one-liners are appropriate, but in general, we discourage those. Please use good judgement.
Uh oh ... I am in big trouble already. Maybe I should read the instruction before taking this baby up for a spin.

Naaahhhhh

what is the fun in that?

Absolutely, I can even hear the cyber voice. It reminds me of a series I once looked at. Oh, yah I think it was the robot on Deep Space Nine. That humanoid really made me laugh.

Welcome to the Beat F-X you crack me up. You must be great at writing stories you certainly have loads of imagination. Seeing as you seem to love having fun. Go over to the Board Games. If you don't find anyone to have fun with at least we know you have loads to say maybe the Cafe would be the place for you.

I'm tempted, and I have no idea why, to do something here. Last night I spent some time photoshopping your passport photo. I was going to add the eye patch and the cigar, but opted for surreal beauty instead. Want to see?

Tell me where you (and others) get the cool Anime avatar pics. I must have one.

I have to tell ya, there is some weirdness going on with my browser and this forum. Out of every forum I visit, this is the only one, so far, that somehow defeats my Mojo. By this, I mean my built in spell check-grammar checker does not work here.

An obvious drawback, especially if you knew how many typos and spelling errors I can generate, without effort.

I've become dependent on it, to avoid errors. That it does not function here, has limited my rapid fire off the cuff responses. The only way I really write these days. If I can fix this problem, I might enter a bored game or two.
