Icon7 I've found the perfect writing forum!

Hi! I call myself “TeaRose.” I’ve been searching for a creative writing forum for a while, and when I came across this one, I thought it looked very insightful and would be an interesting place to interact with other writers, ask questions, share opinions, give advice. I am not a professional writer by any means, and have never been published or even submitted anything. I’ve had thoughts about trying to submit some of my work, which consists of a book of several short stories and just a handful of what I suppose could be considered novellas or novelettes. Currently, I’ve been working on and off for the past several months on a story that may make my first actual novel-length story. I will say one thing. Writing is a love/ hate passion. I’m sure all of you understand what I mean. I have never taken a writing course, and claim my natural writing ability to having learned, basically, from reading. I love to read (and write) stories with plots centered around women’s friendships, sisters, mothers, daughters, as well as classic mystery and suspense, anything from Jane Eyre to Mary Higgins Clark, my favorite book of all time being “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier. I look at famous names like Danielle Steel on the spines of books with beautiful cover designs on the shelves at the library and have this longing and will to perfect my own less than famous little works of art.

I look forward to being a part of this forum! I will chat with you all later!

Thank you for the warm welcome, B Milliken! And I think I'll take a nice hot cup of green tea instead.

It's not the usual thing we keep on tap, but I'm always in for good hospitality.

Passes steaming cup of green tea with a tub of sweetners and a jar of honey. Enjoy!

Tea you poor unsuspecting fool! I too was once like you. Roaming the net, looking for a place to fit in and try my hand at writing, and like you I stumbled upon this place. It all seemed so nice, so serene and filled with wonderful people all willing to help a fledgling writer grow and become all they were capable of becoming.

At first it was all smiles and warm welcomes. Helpful writing hints and words of encouragement dripped from their posts. But little by little all that began to change. Oh, it was subtle at first. Small almost innocuous remarks about my poor punctuation, or the occassionally misspelled word, or how my stories seemed a bit contrived, or just nitpicky things most readers would overlook or ignore. But not here.

Here you have to dot you i's and cross your t's. You have to use commas and quotation marks, you have to obey all those troublesome rules of good grammar and punctuation that take time and effort to implement. It's the SPag police. They're everywhere. Like Nazi stormtroopers they swoop in and pick your work apart without mercy. No more smiles, no more kind words, just a relentless stream of critiques designed to break you down, make you like them. Them, I say! Just like them!

Who are they you ask? I'll tell you who they are! They are the...Stepford Writers and you have fallen into their trap with no way out!

Oh god I've gotta get off this thread. They're coming. I can hear the tick tick tick of their little keyboards. It's like morse code. They're sounding the alarm that someone new is here.

Tea for the love of all that is holy run and get help! Save yourself! Save me! Tick, tick, tick.

Welcome my pretty.

Hi TeaRose!

My first piece of advice for you while you're on here is to ignore Gaines. Just disregard anything he says. We try really, really hard to keep him locked in the padded room, but he chews through the restraints and picks the lock! I don't know how he does it, but he's a wily one.

Hey Tea, watch out for the poster above me. She's the ringleader. Evil personified. You'll see.

I hate to see my thread ruined. Nevertheless, it doesn't bother me, because I have decided to stop before I get too comfortably started. If an Admin reads this post, you have more than my permission to please delete my account. I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning to this forum.

ThankYou

Now see there Gaines, you just had to go spoil a perfectly enunciated, highly sophisticated letter of introduction. What a waste to lose a snooty newbie. Bad boy. Go lie in the shade under a Phantom wing.

I claim this thread in the name of Fredonia. All hail Fredonia! Do you think she'll at least send a postcard when she gets settled into her next perfect forum? Hope so.

What have you done to TeaRose...?

I go to bed after having some nice conversations with her about inspiration and I wake up and it's Mark all over again <shakes head>

Although no anti-UK comment this time!

Anyways, welcome. If you're still here.

I have read this through new eyes, and decided that I may have been in haste last night and made far more out of it than there really was. Blame it on a bad writing day. I will stay.

Honestly, you'll love it here if you give it a chance, it's fun and often very silly, but there is serious stuff and good people too that can really help.

And the moderators always keep us in line when we get out of hand. In the nicest possible way of course
