That depends on what topic you are researching.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Read the topic/genre as written by other writers.
Google
The Library.

All free.

Hi Fanci,

Any suggestions as to where is a good place to start? I'm not looking for anything specific, as I'm just beginning my research on this.

Thanks for your reply.
Bev.

Like Kal said, Google is good or whatever search site you like... It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for information on how to get started writing a book, then I suggest The Writer's Handbook. It comes out every year i think and is kind of pricey new, but I got mine a couple years ago from a book club. It has alot of good advice. I write about things that have happened to me, so research is minimal, but do interviews with people if there are professions of characters in your books. Stuff like that.

If you you to learn about PI techniques, interview a local PI in your area. That's how I got the best information for my published PI novel "The Paradise Connection."

Starrwriter is right...they are generally listed in the yellow pages, phone or write to a few...they can only say no...and you never know they might just say yes.

You might also want to visit 'specialist surviellance/security' equipment shops they tend to have contacts with PI's, or if you know a lawyer or someone in the police might be able to put you in touch with one.
