I know this has likely been discussed ad nauseam and settled by Staff, but I still miss not being able to learn something about an author's background and experience. Puts the writing in better perspective for me. When no info is the default position, it's likely that most newbies don't know there is a form for personal history. In my less than humble opinion, the default entry should be a form with optional choices for introduction. After all, most have learned I am a cranky old fart with lots of experience in worldly matters, but little talent in constructing anything worth reading. I do believe that knowing some basic demographics helps the reader better interpret the work. Okay, shutting up. Y'all go back behind your screens.

I reserve judgement on the first part of that statement, but call CRAP! on the second!

And we do understand what you're saying, but we can't make people give us information that prefer to keep to themselves, at least not until they get to know us better.

Still, Truck, the default hides the path to knowledge. Is Gaines a human? He wouldn't tell us if he knew. Erase all the above.

I think the problem is most people don't realize that the default is to hide the info. -- maybe because that's not the norm. I know on other writing sites, the vast majority of members want to show their profile info -- seems odd that it would be so different here -- and those that don't want to show it don't enter it in the first place.

The other thing is, it's sometimes helpful to look at other stories or poems that an author has posted to get a sense of where they are and what kind of feedback they've been getting -- hard to do if you can't get to the "Statistics" tab.

Way to go, Joe. Getting to know each other is the way to form a community--or start a war.

Well, I noticed that if someone isn't on my "friends list," I can't see anything about them. I have all of my stuff set so that everyone can view it. Can a non-friend and non-staffer see my profile?

Addition: I can't see any of your info, Franklin . . .

"I can't see any of your info, Franklin"

My open life is set for anyone to view, Firebug. Maybe staff can help. You don't want anyone to miss such exciting stuff.

Franklin, I can see all your details, but I suspect that's because I'm staff.

Lets do a test and see. Be right back on that.

It may be you need to change your privacy setting in order to open your life out fully to everyone, but we can't make all members do that. It's a choice.

If you go to my profile can you see any details about me? I think I've got my privacy details ramped up to max.

Since it's a default setting, this is something we'll have to discuss with CrowdGather, the site owners. We don't have access to such technical things, as far as I know. So . . . we're working on it I agree that members should be able to see which posts have been made by a certain user, and easily look for other threads created by them.

I cannot see all the stats, but can on my friends. I have set mine so that everybody should be able to see my stats/info

I just thought people here were jealously private and only opened up to friends :|

I can't see a thing on your profile. Not friends, info, visitor messages--nothing.

Aaaah, Mr. Franklin Paco is right.

I have my profile set so that everyone should be able to see. I think this is a ploy to make us all make friends and hold hands and sing "kumbayah". A dastardly plot for sure!
