Pillars of the Earth-Ken Follet because it's epic!
Wuthering Heights-Emily Bronte-obvious reasons, it's just great

Runner up:
A Prayer for Owen Meany-Jon Irving-ending makes the book
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman-the ending makes the book as well
