Icon7 Another Generic 'Hello!' Thread

Good evening, everyone! My name is Lisa and I'm an alcoholic ahem, "writer". I'm a writer who hasn't written much in a while, in fact I've been on something of a hiatus (more like a dry spell) for what seems like months now. My interest in writing started with forum role-playing which I was deeply involved in for several years. Eventually adulthood crept up on me and since I moved out of my parents' house, I feel like I've all but given up my passion. I have an Associate's degree in journalism, though I've always preferred more creative writing. Though I suppose the amount of creativity and elaboration in printed media depends on where the news is coming from... But I digress!

What brings me to these humble forums is a hunger for connection. I need to know that my inner flame hasn't completely gone out, and that I can reach out to people who may be in similar situations. Thanks so much for giving me a moment of your time, and I hope you'll all be able to help me find what I'm looking for.

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the WB.

Please take the time, in exchange for some of mine , to read our FAQs, there you'll find out how we like to do things around here.
If you have any questions left after reading those, feel free to contact a member of staff (red, blue, or green) and ask away.

Then go on and start connecting. Read what's been posted and offer your honest, constructive and elaborate critique, that way, the favour might well be returned when you're ready to post your own work.

And for those dry spells, there's always the Cafe, it never closes and I'll even throw in a coffee.

Have fun reading and writing.

Hi Lisa,

Journalism sounds like a fun way to earn some money. Do you write for pleasure at home when you get the chance? If so, what's your favourite genre?

Well, do come in and make yourself at home. Cafe is a great place for chilling and chatting. There's sperate threads for sharing your fiction, 'members only' if you want to protect first right (see sticky at the top of the thread), and Prompts and Challenges is great for waking up those slumbering flames.

As Lucky said, check out those FAQs to get a feel for how things work around here. Meanwhile, I'll fetch you a steaming cuppa and some toast.

You've got the inside knowledge of journalism, but the average Joe's mistrust of it.
You're in an ideal position to write a very popular and hard hitting story.

Welcome to the Beat.
