Although I cannot validate the claim from direct experience I have heard tales of people in broken or out of gas airboats who would still be stranded in the everglades if it were not for their cracker savvy of roping a few of the medium size ones and prodding them from behind with a fishing pole to get them moving in the appropriate direction.
