Nice piece Nick.
Hey, even if y'all pull the trigger if you don't deck me with a round you are gonna know way more than I do about how the Obama health care plan works real soon.
This line cracked me up. Thanks for the read and the laugh.

Ha, I enjoyed this too, apart from the last line which made you sound very, very scary indeed! *looks over shoulders to check for gun toting stranger.*

You are welcome, Lucky.

Loz, the story mc has naught but a cell phone and keys upon him.
Tranquillo, lass.

or

perhaps I have interpreted your interpretation of the last line incorrectly.

It could happen.

Anything can happen at any... ooops.

I'm on a roll on Nick's pieces. They're like e-cigs. I can't quit.

Write how you write, not how you talk. They all say that. I know, I know. It's another ramble-on by the speaker. But phrases like "What I'm gettin' at here" are not predicated IMHO. You have a lot of those such locutions that I found curious and a bit distracting in other writes I didn't comment on. It works sometimes when you need a cut into a monologue bit, but it's a sharp turn sometimes in the middle of a flow, a bit jarring.

"People can change. If they live long enough and are given ample incentive."
I disagree. People are static beings. They are their yesterday, the summation of ego and failure. No one changes. We just tell ourselves it's all better. I'm born-again, different for the first time, all over again.

This reads like a foreign indie film. It's so random and yet not.
"Lookit that- there's a penny on the floor by the door. Pick it up while minding the handle don't turn. Pocket it with thanks and open the way to my happy little yellow pick up ."

That is a scene I watched in a Japanese artsy-fartsy thing. They do random scenes like true-to-life bits. It's fascinating.

We can work from our own experience.
We can work from 'infinite possibility' reality.
We choose.
This in respose to 'No one changes'.

Hell, from what I read today, beef is changin' right now.

And if the door handle turned I would have been forehead to belt buckle as a knee came coasting my way. Maybe I could work that in.
Change it.
Hmm.

Nah. It gets weird with me. Don't you dare start talking about souls and psychoanal shiz and the state of being. I'm not talking abstract. I'm kind of a cynic. I don't think people change. They think they do. They want to believe in the miracle so badly, they form new habits in temperance. But they are the effect of every collision of events they chose to participate in.

You are what you think. People see what you speak. You don't change mentality. It gets older, hopefully wiser. But that's not really changing. Get real Nick. No one changes. Maybe things change them physically, like a car accident makes them retarded. That person did not change. Life changed the person. That's different. Inversion.
