Can you give me a taste of the community here?
The atmosphere in online communities can be so varied. I'm testing out the waters here, so I'd like to get a hint for what to expect. I'm particularly wary about diving unexpectedly into social drama. So, are we one big happy family? Are we cliquey? Are there certain forums where I can expect to be bitten by sharks?
I want some honest opinions. Thanks n_n

To stay out of the main drama, I would say to steer clear of the Intellectual Forum. That's where the sticks and stones are thrown. The Write Here forum, though, is a wonderful place to get feedback. Some critiques may be harsh, but it's all usually very constructive, so if you can ignore things without taking too much to heart, it's a great place to learn and polish your writing skills!

A taste, eh? Well, the newbies are usually crunchy and delicious (mmm . . . munched on many of them myself in the Introductions forum), and the old timers can sometimes be a tad cranky ( ). A bit chewy, too, since they've been around for a while . . . tough old birds. . . .
Oh! That's not what you meant! *hides face, slinks away*

A taste of it is all around you.
Actually, huge flame balls whirling through the atmosphere are often seen, housing knowledge and experience--mixed with wit and humor.
The best initial weapon to carry with you would be the new Raydun Intergalactic's inc. Jelly Water Master Blaster. There a little pricey for me so I just carry a small fire extinguisher w/jet blast capabilities.
Either way, shoot straight and true and you'll capture what you need.

There's plenty for everyone here, except Karl Urban. There's only one of him and he's mine!
Anything else, however, I share willingly and openly, what's mine is yours: from the amaretto (if you are of age) to the used chewing gum - it's all good.

Personally, I'm evil.
No, seriously. I wear one black glove. I invite people to dinner, then discuss my plans for world domination over the hors d'oeuvres before pressing the concealed button that drops them in the piranha tank. Also, I frequently say "muhahahaha!"
So if you taste my little bit of the community, you'll find it tastes black and evil. A bit like liquorice.

("...I suppose tastes differ somewhat for they are all subjective now, where what you seek in a forum today might not be that which you seek from one tomorrow..." ventured the goblin, who loved joining unknown forums now, adding "...besides, why stay where one is uncomfortable, but conversely who knows without mixing in, and yet, if you place a post in the “introduction” section I'll welcome you personally as I do most people now...", and then the goblin mentioned something in return, saying "...perhaps we're different for here one writes amongst your readers directly, look around you now, no writer's workshop with educators, one's peers then, using set writing methods churning out yet more twee grammatically correct writer's clones, no this is a forum where you just find out through your own experimentation what works for you and what doesn't under some spur of audience to a feeling of deadline and self-expectation...”, whereupon the goblin just smiled cutting in his soliloquy short, saying “...well, doesn't the muse's pact go honestly a shared life and a thick skin, where no one is forcing you to sign that pact now but I will journey with you a while if you do...”)

Is there a place here where people talk exclusively about humor/comedy writing?

Not that I am aware off, you can always start a thread in the Café or the Writing Craft section if you want to have a discussion.
If you just want to post your work then the Write Here section is what you want, you can put comedy/humour into the title to indicate what your work is.

My advice is don't ask questions and don't make any sudden moves that will bring attention to yourself.
Or, as a whale friend of mine once advised, “ It's the whale that surfaces who gets harpooned.”
