True crime nerd here

I would say, from what I'm understanding about the plot, this wouldn't be enough for me to understand why the protagonist would want to kill the rapist.

How far is the manipulation going? Does it lead the protagonist to do something illegal or harmful to themselves or their family? Or are they simply humiliated.

Humiliation can be very traumatic, no doubt. But is that enough for the protagonist to risk most likely going to jail for murder? I would think for most stable people this would not be enough to risk their freedom over.

I would add an explanation or backstory as to why this humiliation or manipulation is so triggering that the pro needs to kill the rapist. Or else you could make the protagonist seem as unhinged as the person they are trying to kill.
