Okay thanks. In the end of the story though, the protagonist exacts revenge on the rapist and kills her.

If I write so she doesn't actually rapes him and I just make it about manipulation instead, wouldn't the protagonist choosing to kill be overboard? Does it have to actual physical brutal rape, in order for the protagonist to resort to such revenge, and for the reader to get behind it?
