Thief's and Liars

It seems that people are trying to steal my package. When people do this they not only kill the show, but they destroy me as an actor and all earning capability I have, they are merciless cunts.

Coming in late on this, but couldn't it be the possessive of a single thief?

"It was the thief's, and they were liars."

As the opening line is about people trying to steal his package - kinda suggests the plural...

Kinda funny how that came about...had to tweak the rules a little bit, but I think I've been forgiven.
